Paul is addressing mere men in various senses. Mere men in terms of our proclivities and our inclination to sin, silliness and stupidity as fallen human beings. Mere men as Christians because we are still human and we are not exalted to divinity because we know God. Every Christian in this world is still a flawed work in progress, enduring battles and failings. Yet we are temples for the Holy Spirit; lifted from the grubbiness of human nature and it’s behaviour to the glory of Christ-like beauty. Am I really your temple Lord?
